Every year Great Parks stocks approximately 16,000 pounds of fish. Although most of this stock is purchased, some is raised in aquaculture ponds at Shaker Trace Nursery. The hybrid bluegill raised at the nursery, with the help of many dedicated volunteers, help Great Parks stock the lakes at less than half the traditional cost. Species purchased include farm-raised rainbow trout; channel catfish; blue, shovelhead and bullhead catfish; yellow perch; panfish and fingerling stockings of largemouth bass.
Do you want to know the best time to catch a catfish, bass, or perch? Check out Great Parks’ Fish Stocking schedule on greatparks.org/fishing.
